East Coast Trail Cartographic Standards

East Coast Trail Cartographic Standards

0.00

For years, the East Coast Trail (ECT), on Newfoundland and Labrador’s Avalon Peninsula, has sold a package of topographic maps to engage hikers, provide information, and bring in revenue to fund the volunteer trail organization’s operations and development work.

While developing a new system of wayfinding signs for the trail, Form:Media was asked also to develop a fresh and clear cartographic style to improve the map package. Working in conjunction with St. John’s based consultant EnFor, Form:Media designed a complete book of cartographic standards which could be implemented in a geographic information system (GIS), and which the trail group could use over and over again as the trail develops and grows.
