Philippa Ovonji-Odida

Originally from Uganda, Philippa moved to Halifax in 2010 to pursue a degree in Architecture. Inspired by her cross-cultural experiences and insights, her designs are uniquely sensitive to cultural nuances.

During her master’s studies Philippa worked at Dalhousie School of Architecture’s Coastal Studio, an architecture research entity that combines design-build learning opportunities with community development in rural Nova Scotia. Following her master’s degree, she continued at the Coastal Studio as a Project Manager, giving Philippa valuable experience in office administration, construction management and negotiation. Philippa continues to be inspired by her research in design methodologies that respond to the cultural influences in which they are situated.
