What should I do on really snowy days?
Winter can get nasty here in Nova Scotia—but it rarely catches us by surprise. We usually know at least several days in advance when the weather stands to get truly ugly.
If a storm is brewing, we ask you to prepare by collecting up any current work and taking it home, just in case. Even let clients know in advance if you feel deadlines will be compromised.
On the morning of a storm, we will be checking the city bus advisory; if public transportation is shut down, then we will be closed. If public transit is running, then we’re open. Please check your work email for any messages from your supervisor.
If we are closed, then we’ll cover half the day—and you can make up the other half within a week or two of the storm day. This may mean a bit of overtime so that our 40 hour work week isn’t compromised too much.
If you ever feel driving conditions are awful and dangerous, do not compromise your personal safety by traveling into the office. Contact your director for advice, you can always make the time up later.
