Welcome Sarah MacLean - Junior Landscape Architect
Sarah MacLean joins Ekistics after a year in Rotterdam where she interned at award winning firm LOLA Lanscape Architects.
Sarah MacLean holds a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of History from Dalhousie University. Sarah grew up in rural northern Cape Breton Island and metro Halifax. She is passionate about the intersection of design, ecology, heritage, and community building. Her master’s thesis was based in the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and dealt with the task of reimaging the national park visitor experience through the lens of climate change and creating strategies for parks and communities to work together to build resilience. She has worked with community groups and non-profits in both Nova Scotia and Ontario with a focus on urban agriculture, environmental issues, and youth. Her research background, and experience working both at the community and international level has given her the technical tools and expansive knowledge of contemporary landscape design practices.
