Planning for Moncton’s next generation of growth

The Moncton Vision Lands represent one of the most significant opportunities for urban growth in the City of Moncton. Fathom Studio worked with the City to establish a comprehensive planning framework to guide the long-term development of this major growth area as a series of connected, complete communities.

Rather than approaching the Vision Lands as conventional suburban expansion, the plan establishes a structure for compact, mixed-use neighbourhoods organized around walkability, parks and open spaces, active transportation, community amenities and a connected street network. The framework coordinates land use, mobility, servicing, environmental considerations and public space to provide clear direction while maintaining flexibility for development to evolve over time.

Importantly, the project moved beyond visioning to implementation. Fathom translated the planning principles established through the process into a regulatory framework that provides the City, landowners and developers with a coordinated path forward. The result positions the Vision Lands to accommodate significant future growth while creating neighbourhoods that are connected to Moncton and designed around the everyday needs of the people who will call them home.
