RAIC Emerging Architectural Practice Award Goes to Fathom Studio
The Royal Architectural Institute of Canada (RAIC) has announced that Fathom Studio has been awarded the Emerging Architectural Practice Award. This prestigious award recognizes a new architectural practice that has demonstrated exceptional promise, distinguished itself through high-quality design, research, and community involvement, and has the potential to become a major contributor to Canadian architecture.
According to the RAIC jury, Fathom Studio stood out for their innovative approach to design and their commitment to sustainable practices. The jury praised Fathom Studio's ability to seamlessly integrate nature into their designs, as well as their focus on community engagement.
"Fathom Studio impressed the jury with their approach to design that prioritizes sustainability and community engagement," said one jury member, who was part of the selection committee. "Their work is not only beautiful but also functional and environmentally responsible, and they have a clear understanding of the role that architecture can play in creating healthier and more livable communities."
"We are thrilled to receive the RAIC Emerging Architectural Practice Award," said Chris Crawford, Partner & Director of Architecture of Fathom Studio. "We are passionate about creating sustainable and contextually responsive designs that enhance the well-being of the communities we work with. This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team and our commitment to excellence in architecture."
Fathom Studio was named along with the Studio of Contemporary Architecture in Toronto to the 2023 Award. Fathom is only the second firm in Atlantic Canada to receive the award.
The RAIC Emerging Architectural Practice Award will be presented to Fathom Studio at the RAIC's 2023 Awards Gala, which will take place in Calgary, Alberta on May 4th.
